KMC Hospital Launches Advanced Medical Services in Duwakot, Bhaktapur

Bhaktapur. Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) Hospital formally commenced its state-of-the-art medical services in Duwakot, Bhaktapur, starting Sunday. The hospital's operator and former Member of Parliament, Dr. Sunil Sharma, inaugurated the services during a special ceremony.

Dr. Sharma stated that this branch expansion is primarily aimed at saving lives by providing timely treatment to patients suffering from critical conditions such as heart attack and stroke. Residents of Duwakot and surrounding areas will no longer be compelled to travel to limited hospitals in Kathmandu for complex treatments.

According to Dr. Sharma, this is not just a general hospital but a 'super specialty' hospital, where world-class technology has been introduced for the treatment of serious heart, kidney, and brain-related diseases. Considering the time lost and traffic congestion faced when traveling from Bhaktapur to major hospitals in Kathmandu, resulting in patient fatalities, this hospital has been brought into operation to enable emergency treatment within 15 to 20 minutes, he claimed.

Dr. Sharma asserted that the services offered by the hospital are highly technological, which may not be easily available in Nepal for the next 20 years. Specifically, the treatment method for brain stroke, where a wire and balloon are inserted through veins in the arm or leg to treat ruptured or blocked cranial vessels without opening the skull, is available here. He mentioned that such technology is possible in very few locations outside the Kathmandu Valley, and its launch in Duwakot is a matter of pride.

The hospital is equipped with cutting-edge machinery for the diagnosis and treatment of complex diseases. The hospital administration announced that a special arrangement for free medicine and treatment has also been made for extremely impoverished patients with the objective of making health services accessible to all.
