Kane Scores as Bayern Munich Extends Bundesliga Lead After Rout of Union Berlin

Munich. With an outstanding performance from Harry Kane, Bayern Munich defeated Union Berlin by a score of 4-0. With this match at the Allianz Arena, Bayern has established a clear 12-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga.

Michael Olise opened the scoring in the match, while Serge Gnabry scored two goals. English striker Kane added one goal for the team, bringing his personal goal tally for this season to 31.

With this goal, Kane is now only 10 goals behind the historic record of 41 goals set by Robert Lewandowski in the 2020-21 season. Speaking to reporters after the match, the 32-year-old Kane stated that breaking the record is still possible. He expressed confidence that reaching the target would be easier if he could manage consecutive hat-tricks or score two goals in a few matches.

Kane's record-breaking campaign appears set to be further aided by the decision of England manager Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel has decided to rest Kane for the friendly match against Uruguay.

Although named in the 35-man squad, Kane will only feature in the second friendly match against Japan. This decision was made to keep him fresh, considering the busy schedule in April and May and the upcoming World Cup.

Kane also stated that he will use this rest wisely. He understands the need to remain mentally and physically fit to prepare for the crucial matches towards the end of the season.

Bayern will now visit Freiburg on April 4, where Kane will have another opportunity to get closer to Lewandowski's record. In the Bundesliga title race, Bayern has left second-placed Borussia Dortmund far behind.
