Fugitive Prisoner Rearrested by CIB After Escaping Jail Seven Months Ago

Kathmandu. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has rearrested a prisoner who escaped from the Jagannathdewal Jail in Sundhara approximately seven months ago, apprehending him in Balaju.

Bikash Rumba, 30, who fled the jail on Bhadra 24 during the 'Jail Andolan' (Prisoner Protest), was taken into custody by a CIB team on Friday.

Rumba, whose permanent address is Ward No. 1, Indrasarobar Rural Municipality, Makwanpur District, was detained awaiting trial in a narcotics case.

 He had been held at the Jagannathdewal Jail since Chaitra 20, 2081 BS. Following his escape during the protests in Bhadra, he had been hiding in various locations within the Kathmandu Valley.

Based on a special tip-off, a team dispatched from the Bureau arrested him in Ward No. 16, Balaju, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, informed Bureau Spokesperson and Senior Superintendent of Police Shiv Kumar Shrestha. According to him, the arrested Rumba has been handed over to the Jail Office, Jagannathdewal, Sundhara, for necessary legal action.
