Supreme Court Justice Malla States Inclusivity is More Than Just Numerical Quotas

Kathmandu. Supreme Court Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla stated that inclusive equality is not merely about numerical quotas. Addressing the national conference of the Nepal Bar Association's women lawyers in Bhaktapur, she emphasized that inclusivity is not just the distribution of power, but the redistribution of power.

‘Inclusivity is not just about picking up one individual and placing them somewhere,’ she said, ‘Inclusivity acknowledges the existence of a gender and group and recognizes their identity.’

However, what we observed from our experience is that the golden words written in the constitution are not sufficient on their own,’ she stated, ‘Those words only become alive when our other policies and programs support them, when the structure supports them, when we implement them, when society accepts them, and when mindsets change.’
