Swine Fever Outbreak Kills Dozens of Pigs in Rautahat's Chandrapur Municipality

Rautahat. Pigs have started dying in the Chandrapur municipal area due to Swine Fever. Veterinarian Dr. Sulabh Chaudhary stated that 14 pigs belonging to Hari Guro of Rajpeda village in Chandrapur Municipality-5 died from this disease.

Farmer Guro lamented that 14 pigs died within a week's interval. He mentioned that he informed veterinarians for treatment and the pigs died even while being treated.

According to Dr. Chaudhary, one pig belonging to Shanti Magar in Chandranigahapur-4 also died from the same disease. He explained that the disease spreads particularly from infected pigs or their piglets or meat, or from animals that came into contact with infected livestock.

Although Chandrapur Municipality announced that vaccines would be administered in all wards to control the disease, Dr. Chaudhary stated that it would take some time as there is currently a shortage of vaccines. Farmers in Chandrapur raise around six thousand pigs.
