Nepal Urges Security for Peacekeepers Amid West Asia Tensions

Kathmandu. Expressing concern over the ongoing tensions in West Asia, the government has emphasized the security of peacekeepers. According to Nepal's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, Nepal stressed the need to ensure the security of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

Nepal, along with other UN member states, expressed strong support for the peacekeepers following a recent attack in southern Lebanon that injured three peacekeepers, emphasizing the need for their security.

Nepal stated that peacekeepers should never be targets of attack. Furthermore, the government strongly condemned the attacks against UN personnel and wished the injured a speedy and full recovery.

Nepal, along with the global community, also called upon all concerned parties to exercise maximum restraint, respect international law, and fully implement the relevant Security Council resolutions.
