Independent Candidate Dr. Mahabir Pun Secures Lead in Myagdi Constituency Election

Myagdi. Independent candidate Dr. Mahabir Pun's victory in Myagdi is certain. Pun, who is also the outgoing Minister of Education, Science and Technology, has taken a lead with a margin greater than the remaining votes to be counted. The counting of votes for the House of Representatives election held on Thursday is ongoing at the main election officer's office in Beni.

The main election officer's office stated that Pun has maintained the lead with 20,208 votes in the counting process across five municipalities of the district. After the counting concluded in Dhaulagiri, Malika, Mangala, and Raghuganga Rural Municipalities and Beni Municipality, Pun has secured over 12,000 more votes than his closest competitor, Harikrishna Shrestha of CPN (UML). Only the votes from Annapurna Rural Municipality, totaling 6,558, remain to be counted in Myagdi.

In Myagdi, which has a single constituency, there were 12 candidates in the electoral competition, including the independent one. Out of the 86,397 registered voters in the district, 46,215 votes were cast.
