House of Representatives Election Concludes Peacefully Nationwide Amidst Minor Incidents

Kathmandu. The voting for the House of Representatives election concluded peacefully and enthusiastically across the country today, except for sporadic minor incidents. The voting, which began at 7:00 AM as scheduled by the Election Commission, concluded at 5:00 PM.

According to the Commission, no polling station's voting has been formally suspended so far. Disputes in Dolakha, Sarlahi, and Rautahat were resolved after a short time. With the voting complete, the collection of ballot boxes is rapidly underway across the country.

In the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) electoral system, 65 political parties are competing with 61 election symbols. In the FPTP category, there are 3,406 candidates in the electoral competition: 3,017 males, 388 females, and one other. In the Proportional Representation (PR) system, 3,135 candidates are competing: 1,363 males and 1,772 females. Elections were held for 165 constituencies under FPTP and 110 seats under PR.

For the election, 23,112 polling centers were designated across 10,967 polling stations nationwide. 143 temporary polling stations were also set up.

For election security, 79,727 Nepali Army personnel, 75,797 Nepal Police personnel, 34,567 Armed Police Force personnel, 1,921 National Investigation personnel, and 149,090 election police were deployed.
