Former Chief Election Commissioner Urges Voters to Assess Candidates' Capability Before Casting Ballots

Kathmandu. Former Chief Election Commissioner Bhojraj Pokharel has urged the public to exercise their invaluable right to vote only after thoroughly examining the capability and standing of the candidates. Stating that a vote in an election is not merely a single vote but an entrustment of the sovereign power vested in the citizen, he advised selecting the right candidate.

Warning voters, former Chief Election Commissioner Pokharel emphasized the need to seriously consider how a candidate will exercise the voter's important right and whether they possess the capacity to exercise that right. He urged people to 'filter' candidates and cast their votes only after being fully convinced about how the candidate will shape the future of the individual and the nation.

Speaking with News Agency Nepal, Pokharel stated that the role of the media is most crucial in making the election clean and dignified. He urged journalists to work within their conduct and boundaries, stressing that the media must control illusions, rumors, and misinformation.
