Election Candidates Arrested in Siraha and Parsa for Suspicious Activity During Silence Period

Siraha. Ashweshwar Yadav, a candidate from the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal for Siraha-3, and Manoj Chaudhary, a candidate from the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) for Parsa-2, have been arrested by the police.

They were arrested on allegations of engaging in suspicious activities during the silence period. Police reported that JSP Nepal candidate Yadav was arrested along with cash.

According to the police, a Scorpio vehicle with license plate Pradesh 2-02-001 Cha 087, traveling from the Nepal-India border area of Madar towards the Siraha district headquarters, was stopped for a joint check at Shiv Chowk around 12:30 AM. During the search, NPR 487,000 in cash was recovered, leading to the detention of candidate Yadav and four others, as stated by the District Police Office, Siraha.

CPN candidate Chaudhary from Parsa-2 was arrested during a routine security check in the Badnihar area. Deputy Superintendent of Police Hari Bahadur Basnet, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Parsa, informed that Chaudhary and three others were taken into custody after their vehicle was stopped.

DSP Basnet also stated that some suspicious items were found in the vehicle.
