Bird flu suspected in Koshi Rural Municipality

Inaruwa –As high as 400 chicks in a poultry farm in Koshi Rural Municipality-6 in Sunsari district. The chicks in the poultry farm of local resident Upendra Yadav died on Monday evening and Tuesday morning, according to Pappu Pathak, a technician working in the area. 


Yadav had purchased the chicks from Basu Shrestha of Madhuban that the latter brought from Kailashpati Hatchery in Chitwan. 


After the death of the large number of chicks, the local residents and livestock technicians have suspected the bird flu in the dead chicks. 


Yadav had bought each chick for Rs 45 and the chicks died within 12 hours, leaving doubts on the bird flu outbreak. 


Technician Pathak said that the District Livestock Service Office has been urged to conduct the tests of the dead chicks to confirm whether the chicks died of bird flu. ---
