Kathmandu District Court to Remain Partially Open During Public Holidays for Essential Judicial Services

Kathmandu. Although the government has declared a public holiday due to the House of Representatives election scheduled for the upcoming Falgun 21, the Kathmandu District Court has decided to keep its doors open for some special services.

This arrangement has been made by the court so that essential judicial functions are not affected, despite public holidays falling from Falgun 20 to 22 for the election, and on Falgun 24 for International Women's Day.

In accordance with Section 26(1) of the Justice Administration Act, 2073, and to grant permission to issue arrest warrants under Section 9 of the Muluki Criminal Procedure Code, 2074, the court will remain open even during the holidays for the hearing of habeas corpus petitions.

According to the Kathmandu District Court, the court will operate from 11 AM to 3 PM on other holidays (Falgun 20, 22, and 24), excluding the election day on Falgun 21 and Saturday on Falgun 23.
