Bhojpur Municipality Distributes Improved Orange Saplings to Boost Farmer Income

Bhojpur. To increase farmers' income, improved variety orange saplings were distributed to farmers in Bokhim of Bhojpur Municipality-5. The ward office distributed approximately 1,250 orange saplings to 150 farmers.

The Bokhim area is considered suitable for orange production. Ward Chairman Phabindra Pradhan informed that the saplings were provided at a 50 percent subsidy to encourage the farmers. These saplings were brought from the Paripatle Orange Variety Research Center located in Dhankuta.

Ward Chairman Pradhan stated that 'Unshu Japanese' and 'Khoku Local Grafted' varieties of orange saplings were distributed. This year, the ward has allocated a budget of Rs 200,000 for the distribution of orange and grape saplings. He mentioned that orange saplings have been distributed based on demand, and grape saplings will be distributed after some time.

"Bokhim is a suitable area for orange cultivation," said Ward Chairman Pradhan, "Since it is close to the district headquarters, there is no problem with the market. We distributed the saplings with the aim of attracting farmers towards commercial orange farming and connecting them to income generation."

Currently, about 300 farmers here are involved in orange cultivation. Local farmer Bhim Bahadur Dahal said that the distribution program of improved variety saplings has provided great relief to the farmers.
