Student Wing Protests Alleged Burning of CPN-UML Flag in Dang, Burns Effigy of RSP Leader

A protest was held in front of R.R. Campus in Kathmandu against the alleged burning of the CPN-UML flag during election campaigning in Dang. ANISU, the student organization close to UML, protested the incident by burning an effigy of Balen Shah, a senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and a candidate for Jhapa Constituency No. 5.

UML strongly objected to the incident on Thursday, alleging that RSP cadres burned the UML flag and engaged in unruly activities during their election campaign in Dang. Claiming that attempts were being made to disrupt the election through non-political and anarchic activities, ANISU protested by burning an effigy and chanting slogans on Exhibition Road. ANISU warned of stern agitation if the culprits are not immediately arrested and prosecuted.

As the House of Representatives election scheduled for the upcoming Falgun 21 approaches, incidents of disputes and clashes among cadres of various parties are increasing in different parts of the country.
