National Assembly Chairman Stresses Defense of Democratic Values on Democracy Day

Kathmandu. Chairman of the National Assembly, Narayan Prasad Dahal, stated that the significance of observing Democracy Day lies in pledging to protect and strengthen democratic values, and to move forward by making the democratic system effective and accountable to the public.

Extending best wishes to all Nepalis on the occasion of Democracy Day, he mentioned that the parliament is an important institution for the promotion and strengthening of democracy.

Chairman Dahal said, "The National Assembly has been continuously active in policy formulation, legislative management, institutional development of democratic practice, protection of citizen rights, and matters of national interest."

Expressing heartfelt tribute to all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the political change of 2007 BS, he paid high respect to all the warriors who contributed to the historical people's struggles and movements at various times for the progressive change and attainment of the democratic republic in the country.

The message of best wishes stated, "February 7, the day democratic rule was initiated in the country by ending the tyrannical Rana regime, is a historic day in Nepal's political history. While celebrating Democracy Day, it is necessary for everyone to focus on protecting the federal democratic republic obtained through the sacrifice, dedication, and struggle of the Nepali people, and on the observance, protection, and implementation of the Constitution of Nepal framed by the Constituent Assembly."

Chairman Dahal wished that Democracy Day inspires everyone to move forward unitedly for the federal democratic republic, national independence, freedom of expression, and the prosperity and development of the country.
