CPN Lawmaker Alleges Black Marketeers Active Ahead of General Elections

Kathmandu. Nepali Communist Party (CPN) lawmaker Ghanshyam Rizal has alleged that black marketeers have become active as the general election for the House of Representatives approaches. Speaking during the zero hour in the National Assembly meeting held on Wednesday, he stated that ordinary people are being troubled by creating artificial shortages in daily essential goods and causing price hikes.

He accused some businesspersons of creating artificial shortages with the aim of destabilizing the supply system and making undue profits during the election period. He said, 'As the election nears, black marketeers have started the practice of causing distress to the public by creating artificial shortages of daily essential goods and increasing prices. I urge the government to monitor the market and take action against the guilty.'
