Mass Food Poisoning Strikes Wedding Feast Attendees in Khotang, Nepal; Treatment Camp Established

Khotang. A treatment camp has been set up after the groom, bride, and all attendees of a wedding feast in Diplung, Janthedhunga Rural Municipality-6, fell ill. Symptoms, starting with fever and diarrhea 12 hours after consuming the feast, prompted the establishment of a camp at the home of Ramkumar Rai in Nigalawas, Diplung, for treatment.

Local resident Birbal Kirati informed that the attendees of the wedding feast are suspected of having 'food poisoning'. Local residents who ate the feast organized in Diplung on Magh 21 began falling ill from the evening of Magh 22.

An RRT team from the Rural Municipality's health branch, the District Health Office Khotang, and a team of elected representatives have been deployed to treat the sick locals. Rural Municipality Deputy Chief Khembahadur Khadka informed that manpower along with medicines was requested from the District Health Office due to the increasing pressure from the patients of the wedding feast.

Rural Municipality Information Officer Binay Niroula stated that locals experiencing health issues are continuously coming and going to the camp for treatment. The Rural Municipality arranged for treatment by gathering people in Nigalawas Bhanjyang starting from Magh 23 after patients began contacting them seeking treatment.

Rural Municipality Chairperson Arunadevi Rai informed that guests from Udayapur, Kathmandu, and other places who returned after attending the feast have also reported falling ill.
