Election Commissioner Stresses Importance of Observers for Fair Upcoming General Election

Kathmandu. Election Commissioner Sagun Shamsher JB Rana stated that the role of election observers will be crucial in making the upcoming House of Representatives election clean, independent, and impartial. He made these remarks on Friday while addressing the orientation program for observers organized at the Election Commission.

He mentioned that every individual assigned to observation duties must have clear knowledge of Nepal's constitution, election laws, and the current situation. Recalling that national observer organizations played a significant role in increasing the credibility of past elections, he noted that the same expectation is held this time as well.

Commissioner Rana cautioned observers to fully comply with the Election Observation Directive and Code of Conduct recently issued by the Election Commission.

 Referring to the observers as important stakeholders and the 'eyes' of the election, he urged them to implement what they learned during the one-day orientation training into practice.
