Anti-Graft Body Raids Home of Kamalamai Municipality Mayor in Sindhuli

Kathmandu. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has raided the house of Upendra Pokharel, the Mayor of Kamalamai Municipality in Sindhuli. A team deployed from the CIAA's Bardibas office raided Pokharel's residence in Sindhulimadhi on Monday. The CIAA team also questioned him.

The commission is investigating a complaint alleging the misappropriation of hundreds of cubic feet of timber recovered during the demolition of the old convention hall in Sindhulimadhi. The CIAA team questioned him at his home regarding the timber that was allegedly misappropriated from behind the municipal police barracks during the demolition of the convention hall.

A CIAA official told Ratopati that no timber was found during the raid on his house. The official stated, 'No timber was found at his residence; we are continuing the investigation.'
