Over a Dozen Candidates Violate Election Code of Conduct in Banke District

Nepalgunj. More than a dozen candidates have violated the election code of conduct in Banke. The violation of the election code of conduct by more than a dozen candidates in Banke occurred through the distribution of goods, wearing campaign materials, use in publicity, and holding assemblies and gatherings in prohibited areas.

Election Code of Conduct Monitoring Officer Purna Bahadur Khatri informed that information regarding approximately 15 incidents of violation of the election code of conduct in the district has been received. "Information about violations of the code of conduct by candidates has been received in all three constituencies of Banke," said Officer Khatri. "As soon as information about such violations of the election code of conduct is received, we have carried out monitoring and other related tasks."

According to Khatri, in Constituency No. 3 of the district, a party meeting and program were held at a school, Ward Chairpersons and Rural Municipality Chairpersons gave speeches in favor of candidates at such programs, and officials affiliated with non-governmental organizations promoted parties on their social media. In Constituency No. 2, the use of badges in candidate promotion, the use of election symbols on scarves, and candidates immediately ordering gravel to be laid on the road at the request of voters were found, while in Constituency No. 1, lockets were distributed to voters. Furthermore, the code of conduct was violated by using flags on vehicles.

Monitoring Officer Khatri stated that the candidates who violated the code of conduct by engaging in such activities were asked for a verbal clarification. Along with seeking clarification, they were immediately instructed not to repeat such actions. The date for the House of Representatives Election-2082 is approaching. The Election Commission has issued the election code of conduct to ensure the election is conducted in a clean, impartial, and fear-free environment, and has also appointed Election Code of Conduct Monitoring Officers to enforce its strict compliance, who have begun strict monitoring in the district to ensure adherence to the election code of conduct.
