Kathmandu – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is arriving on a two-day state visit today.
PM Modi's official visit will start from Janakpur where he will land on an Indian Air Force chopper at 10 am. This is PM Modi's third official visit to Nepal.
Defense Minister, Ishwor Pokharel, and Province no 2 Chief Minister, Lal Babu Raut, will be welcoming the Indian PM at the Janakpur airport.
PM Modi will head to Janaki temple from Janakpur airport where he will attend a special worship ceremony, Foreign Ministry said.
Indian PM Modi will be accompanied by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the temple. The two Prime Ministers will then jointly inaugurate the Ramayan Circuit Bus Route and flag off the Janakpurdham – Ayodhya bus service with green flags.
PM Modi will then attend the civic – reception hosted by the provincial government and Janakpur Sub Metropolitan City at the Bargabigha ground. PM Modi will then fly to Kathmandu in the afternoon on the helicopter.
PM Modi will be given a 'Guard of Honour' by the Nepal Army in presence of Prime Minister Oli at the Army Pavilion in Tundhikhel.
PM Modi will then meet Vice President, Nanda Bahadur Pun, at latter's office in Kantipath. PM Modi will also be meeting President, Bidya Devi Bhandari, at Shital Niwas today.
According to Foreign Ministry, the two premiers will hold an official meeting on the sidelines of the visit and raise the subjects of mutual interests. The two PMs are also set to appear at a joint press conference and inaugurate the Arun Third Hydro Power Project.
On May 12, the Indian PM will leave for a visit to the famed Muktinath temple in the trans-Himalayan district of Mustang. PM Modi will return to Kathmandu at 10:30 am after attending a worship ceremony at Muktinath temple.
PM Modi will then be offered a civic – reception by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City at 2:45 pm. He will then return to India after completing his two-day state visit in the afternoon on May 12.
