Mass Drug Administration Campaign Launched in Rautahat to Eliminate Filariasis

Rautahat. The mass drug administration campaign for the elimination of Elephantiasis (Filariasis) disease has formally begun today in Maulapur Municipality of Rautahat.

The campaign was inaugurated by Mayor Rina Kumari Sah, doctors from the Health Services Department, employees, and elected representatives voluntarily taking the medicine. The municipality has appealed to all residents to mandatorily consume the medication.

According to Chief Administrative Officer Rambabu Sah, the target is to administer medicine to a total of 29,950 citizens within Maulapur Municipality.

Health Workers to Reach Doorsteps

From today until the 26th, health workers and female health volunteers from the municipality will go door-to-door to administer the medicine to citizens. All residents have been urged to cooperate in making this campaign successful.

Who Can Take It, Who Cannot?

According to health workers, all citizens above two years of age can take this medicine. It has been stated that patients with thyroid issues, sugar (diabetes), and high blood pressure can also consume it safely.

However, it is advised that children under 23 months, women who have given birth within the last week, pregnant women, and patients with serious chronic diseases should not take it.

The municipality has requested everyone to be aware and participate, emphasizing that this campaign is crucial for protecting the community from chronic diseases like Elephantiasis.
