Kathmandu Metropolis Intensifies River Cleanup Campaign to Restore Urban Beauty and Hygiene

Kathmandu. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has intensified its river cleanup campaign within its jurisdiction to restore the city's aesthetics and maintain a clean environment. With the goal of making the city beautiful and organized, the metropolis has recently placed special emphasis on cleaning its water resources.

Having previously completed the cleanup of the Dhobikhola and Tukucha rivers in the Anamnagar area, the metropolis is now focusing its attention on the Bishnumati River, located in Ward No. 16. Metropolis employees are aggressively advancing the work of clearing unnecessary thickets along the riverbanks and removing accumulated garbage from the water.

The metropolis stated that this step was taken because the extremely foul-smelling rivers were diminishing the city's beauty and increasing the risk of waterborne diseases. It is believed that this campaign will also be effective in restoring the natural form of the rivers and ensuring proper sewage management.

Along with the cleanup, the metropolis has strictly urged city residents not to dump garbage into the rivers. Warning that action would be taken against those who throw trash into the rivers, the metropolis also reminded everyone of their shared responsibility in keeping the city clean.
