Neymar Likely to Miss World Cup Qualifiers Due to Fresh Injury

New Injury During Training

Neymar, the former star of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, is likely to miss Brazil's upcoming World Cup qualifying matches because of a new injury. According to reports from GE Globo, the 33-year-old felt numbness in his thigh during a training session before Sunday's Brazilian league match. Although his club, Santos, has informed the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) about this injury, official confirmation is still pending. Neymar was already unavailable for Sunday's match against Bahia due to a suspension from a yellow card.

A Frustrating Period for the Star

If Neymar is sidelined for some time, it will be another disappointing setback for him. Last week, he was visibly emotional after Santos suffered a 6-0 defeat to Vasco da Gama, which led to the dismissal of the club's manager, Kleber Xavier. Neymar has not played for the national team since Carlo Ancelotti became Brazil's coach in May of this year. Ancelotti had indicated that Neymar was not included in his initial squad due to recurring injuries.

Uncertainty for Upcoming Matches

It remains to be seen whether Ancelotti will include Neymar in the squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Bolivia in September. Brazil has already secured its place in the 2026 World Cup after defeating Paraguay 1-0 last June.
