Socialist Front calls for street protest against royalist threat

Kathmandu, March 14 — The four-party opposition Socialist Front has concluded that there is a threat from royalist forces on three major issues, and that a majo street protest is necessary.
A meeting held at the office of the CPN (Unified Socialist) in Aloknagar on Sunday concluded that the situation is serious, and action must be taken.
The front's spokesperson, Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma, stated that regressive forces, which had been overthrown by the Nepali people, are attempting to rise again, prompting the call for a large protest rally on the 15th of Chaitra (March 28).
"We have conducted a serious review of the current political situation and the rise of regressive forces on the streets. The issue is very serious. The political situation in the country is becoming more complex with each passing day. These regressive forces, which were once overthrown, are now trying to resurface," Bishwakarma said.
He further noted that remnants of feudalism are once again becoming visible.
"The active presence of royalist and regressive forces is a direct threat to the republic, national sovereignty, and socialism that the people achieved through their struggles. These three issues are being systematically attacked by both domestic and foreign reactionary forces through conspiratorial means," Bishwakarma added.
The meeting decided to organize a large protest rally to resist these regressive forces.
Bishwakarma claimed that the protest rally in Kathmandu on the 15th of Chaitra will see widespread public participation. He also mentioned that an interaction program with intellectuals and civil society leaders will be held tomorrow to plan additional protest activities.
