Surgical services begin in two shifts at Bir Hospital

Kathmandu, March 10 — Bir Hospital, the oldest hospital in Nepal, has started offering surgical services in two shifts.

Due to the increasing number of patients, the hospital has expanded its services to include operations for ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat), dentistry, urology, and general surgery in both shifts.

Acting Director Dr. Samaj Gautam mentioned that the decision to operate in two shifts was made to accommodate the growing number of patients and provide better services.

Previously, surgical services were available in only one shift.

The move to operate in two shifts comes after the Ministry of Health and Population instructed all federal hospitals to implement this change.

Bir Hospital had been providing outpatient services (OPD) and emergency services during public holidays, but has now expanded surgical services to meet the rising demand.
