Supreme Court suspends hearings to mourn late Judge Shrestha

Kathmandu, March 2 — No hearings will be held in any bench of the Supreme Court today.

The decision was made after expressing condolences on the passing of Sharada Shrestha, Nepal's first female judge and the second female judge to serve at the Supreme Court.

The Court decided to suspend hearings on Sunday in her honor.

The Supreme Court's information officer, Nirajan Pandey, informed that no hearings would take place in any of the Supreme Court's benches on Sunday.

Sharada Shrestha, Nepal's first female judge, passed away on Friday at the age of 84.

She was appointed as a judge at the Supreme Court on Baishakh 3, 2061 (April 25, 2004).

She retired on Jestha 20, 2065 (June 2, 2008).
