KIIT students can now transfer credits to Nepali universities

Kathmandu, February 26 — Nepali students studying at KIIT University in Odisha, India, have been invited to apply for credit hour transfers to Nepali universities if they wish to continue their education in Nepal.

Three universities in Nepal—Purbanchal University, Kathmandu University, and Tribhuvan University—have issued notices inviting applications for credit hour transfers.

Purbanchal University, Kathmandu University, and Tribhuvan University have announced that they will allow credit hour transfers for students wishing to continue their studies in Nepal.

Tribhuvan University and Purbanchal University have provided guidance to address the issues faced by Nepali students studying at KIIT University, while Kathmandu University has organized an open house discussion on the matter.

The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has coordinated with the universities to ensure that students affected by the situation at KIIT University can continue their studies in Nepal under the credit transfer policy.

The Ministry has assured that academic programs will be available at Tribhuvan University and Purbanchal University for these students.

Students and parents seeking more information can contact the relevant universities directly.

Tribhuvan University can be reached at [email protected] and [email protected], while Purbanchal University can be contacted at [email protected].

The move comes after a tragic incident in which Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal committed suicide on February 16 in her hostel room at KIIT University.

Following the incident, Nepali students were subjected to harsh treatment, with many being forced to leave the hostel and university.

In response, hundreds of Nepali students were compelled to leave the university.

For those who are unable or unwilling to return to KIIT University, arrangements have been made to complete their remaining studies in Nepal through credit hour transfers.

Students who have already returned to Nepal have also requested that credit transfers be arranged, prompting discussions between the Ministry of Education and Nepali universities.
