HoR session: MPs push for immediate action on various issues

Kathmandu, February 25 — During today's session of the House of Representatives, lawmakers raised several important issues, including the need for the government to provide free medical treatment to victims of road accidents.

MP Ramhari Khatiwada highlighted the issue of road accident victims and urged the government to ensure free treatment for those injured in such incidents. He also brought up a recent bus accident in Kavrebhajyaang in the parliament. In addition, Khatiwada demanded that national identity cards for senior citizens should not be mandatory, and that local governments should be allowed to issue these cards.

MP Devendra Paudel also echoed concerns about providing free medical treatment to road accident victims. He stressed the importance of improving road safety, enforcing traffic rules strictly, and highlighted the lack of a ‘night vision’ helicopter to rescue victims during night-time accidents, calling it unfortunate.

He also objected to the reduction in financial allocation for local governments in the recent budget after the semi-annual review.

MP Anita Devi brought up the issue of lack of support for employees from elected representatives. She also emphasized the government's role in resolving the ongoing conflict in the Pathibhara area.

MP Lalbir Chaudhary raised the alarming rise in the number of people injured or killed by wild animal attacks, urging concerned authorities to take immediate action to address this issue.

MP Dr. Amresh Kumar Singh highlighted the growing religious intolerance and tensions between different religious communities, urging the need for surveillance and control over harmful expressions on social media to maintain social harmony.
