Maoist local representatives pledge to strengthen social justice

Kathmandu, February 24 — Local representatives elected from the CPN (Maoist Center) have passed a 30-point commitment to promote the foundation of socialism at the local level.

The meeting, held on Saturday and Sunday in Kathmandu, saw local leaders commit to working with full dedication and integrity through their respective local levels to build a socialist foundation.

The commitment aims to strengthen direct democracy, good governance, social justice, and national prosperity.

The commitment letter states: "We pledge to work with complete dedication and integrity through our local levels to establish the basis for socialism at the local level, while upholding the values of the inclusive federal democratic republic achieved through the long struggles of the Nepali people, and protecting and strengthening the Constitution. We are committed to advancing these priorities with urgency."

The meeting was attended by 123 mayors/chairs, 134 deputy mayors/vice-chairs, party leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda), top Maoist leaders, and provincial and local level heads from all seven provinces.
