Prachanda warns Jhapa at risk of becoming a place of counter-revolution

Kathmandu, February 24 — Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', has warned that Jhapa, which was once a symbol of revolution, is at risk of becoming a symbol of counter-revolution.

While in Jhapa to inaugurate the Postal Highway-centered awareness campaign, Prachanda appealed to senior communist leaders to safeguard the region from the dangers of counter-revolution.

"Jhapa was once known as a symbol of revolution. Back then, revolutionary leaders like you guided it. But now, the leadership has shifted toward a capitalist direction. It has abandoned the revolutionary path," Prachanda said.

"Today, I appeal to everyone to protect Jhapa from the threat of counter-revolution. We must think in new ways for a new socialist revolution. There is a need for a new unity," he added.

Chairman Prachanda also honored senior figures of the Nepali communist movement, Hari Adhikari and Bedanidhi Niraula.

Additionally, Prachanda hoisted the Nepali flag at Kechanakawal, the lowest point in Nepal, which holds great potential as a tourist destination.

He also urged for the preservation and promotion of Nepal’s cultural diversity and historical heritage from this site.
