Rabi Lamichhane appears before Chitwan District Court

Kathmandu, February 5 — Rabi Lamichhane, the president of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party, has appeared at the Chitwan District Court.

His appearance follows the filing of a case regarding the embezzlement of savings from Sahara Chitwan Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited.

The District Government Attorney’s Office registered an additional prosecution on Tuesday, accusing Lamichhane of committing a fraudulent act under the provisions of Section 249, Subsection 1 and 2 of the National Criminal Procedure (Code) Act, 2017.

The total amount of alleged fraud related to the Sahara Chitwan Multipurpose Cooperative Society is said to be NPR 52.33 million.

Currently, a claim of NPR 3.89 million has been filed in the court for compensation.

According to court spokesperson Amrit Bishwakarma, the accused amount in the case is NPR 52 million, with an additional NPR 14.23 million pending as a supplementary prosecution claim for further legal action.
