Protest held in Kathmandu against Pathibhara cable car (photos)

Kathmandu, February 3 — A protest against the construction of a cable car in Pathibhara, Taplejung, was held in Kathmandu.

The 'Mukkumlung Tadshep Chumbho' and 'Mukkumlung Conservation Inter-Party Struggle Committee' organized the demonstration at Maitighar on Monday.

A 2.7 km cable car line is being built from Phungling-10, Kaflepati, to the temple.

The ongoing transport strike against the construction of cable car, which has been going on for a week, has disrupted daily life in the remote hilly districts of the eastern region.

The protesting parties have demanded that the Pathibhara Mukkumlung Limbu community's sacred site, Mundhumi, be preserved.

During the protest at Maitighar, they called for the resignation of the Home Minister and the withdrawal of armed police from Mukkumlung.
