Clash erupts in Damak, eight arrested
Kathmandu, February 2 — A clash occurred in Damak Municipality-5, Jhapa, at the Republican Chowk, between a group of protesters and the police.
The protest was held against the construction of a cable car in the Pathibhara area of Taplejung.
According to police reports, the authorities resorted to lathi charge and fired one round of tear gas to disperse the protesters.
Eight individuals participating in the protest were arrested, as confirmed by DSP Krishna Chand from the Jhapa District Police Office.
The protesters were demanding the cancellation of the decision to build the cable car.
