PM Oli claims Nepal's export trade data is fake

Kathmandu, January 30 — Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has claimed that the export trade statistics of Nepal are fake. Speaking at the Chamber Expo held in the capital on Thursday, he stated that Nepal's export data cannot be considered as actual exports.

"The trade statistics that are being shown are not true; they are fake statistics," Oli said. "We do not have the amount of production that is reflected in the trade figures. In other words, we import and sell, and that is also counted as trade."

He emphasized that only goods produced domestically and sold can be considered real trade. According to Prime Minister Oli, the number of savers in Nepal is very low.

Oli also stated that saving money without spending cannot be considered as actual savings.

He explained that money saved carefully can be considered savings. "What we are looking for is not just saving by not spending," he added.

He further clarified that savings could only be counted when the consumption of harmful items like cigarettes and bidis is reduced.
