Ashika Tamang re-arrested after posting bail

Kathmandu, January 28 — Ashika Tamang, who was released on bail by the Kathmandu District Administration Office, has been re-arrested.

She had posted a bail of 10,000 rupees on Monday to secure her release.

However, she was re-arrested in connection with a criminal disturbance case, as confirmed by DSP Dhundiraj Neupane of the Bhaktapur District Police Range.

Neupane informed Ratopati that they had sent a letter to the police, and based on that, the Gaushala Police Circle had informed them of the re-arrest.

According to DSP Neupane, a complaint had been filed against Tamang for causing a criminal disturbance at the Jagate Police Circle. He added, "Jagate Police Circle is investigating the matter."

Tamang is accused of protesting a decision by the Suryabinayak Municipality to collect a 20-rupee tax for those entering the Sanga suspension bridge.

She allegedly seized receipts from employees and burned them. The municipality filed a complaint, leading to an investigation by the police.

DSP Neupane confirmed that the investigation would continue with a court-issued remand.
