ADB Director Cauchois meets Home Minister Lekhak to discuss infrastructure support

Kathmandu, January 23 — Arnaud Cauchois, the Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Nepal, met with Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak on Thursday.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar, Minister Lekhak expressed gratitude for ADB’s contribution to infrastructure development in Nepal.

Minister Lekhak also urged ADB to continue its support for various infrastructure projects, including the upgrading of the Gaddachauki-Kohalpur section of the East-West Highway, the development of the Mahakali Corridor road as a major trade route for the Sudurpaschim province, the road improvement from Godawari in Kailali to Doti, and the construction of other physical structures around the Dohara Chandani dry port under Indian assistance, with the goal of developing it as a model dry port.

Additionally, the two discussed ADB's ongoing support for building modern cities in four municipalities in the Sudurpaschim province and the development of infrastructure in religious and tourist areas of the region.

During the meeting, Minister Lekhak emphasized the importance of implementing the survey report ADB conducted last year for the tourism development of the Sudurpaschim province .

ADB Director Cauchois assured that the matter would be discussed with senior officials at ADB for further action.
