Cement price adjustment, not hike: Maru
Kathmandu, January 22 — The President of the Nepal Cement Manufacturers' Association, Raghunandan Maru, stated that the increase in cement prices is not an actual price hike but rather a price adjustment.
He made this comment during a discussion at the Public Accounts Committee on Wednesday.
In response to a question from Committee Chairman Rishikesh Pokharel about the reasons for the price increase, Maru explained that the price adjustment was made due to significant losses incurred in previous years.
"It’s better to call it a price adjustment rather than a price increase," he said. "We had to adjust the prices slightly to offset the losses from the past."
He also mentioned that the last three months of 12-hour load shedding had affected production, and the rising production costs were contributing factors to the price adjustment.
