Jay Trophy Final: Police declare innings at 133 against Army
Birgunj, January 15 — In the ongoing final of the Jay Trophy Men’s Elite Cup, Nepal Police Club declared their innings at 133/9 in 36.4 overs.
Kushal Bhurtel provided a strong start for the Police Club, scoring 51 runs off 56 balls, while Amit Shrestha contributed 20 runs. However, the team’s batting faltered under the pressure of some superb bowling by Shahab Alam.
Alam was the standout performer, claiming an exceptional 7 wickets for 37 runs in 12.4 overs, as Nepal Police Club found it difficult to build partnerships.
Other notable contributions came from Arjun Saud, who made 28 runs, and Rashid Khan, who added 10 runs.
Despite these efforts, regular wickets fell throughout their innings, with key players such as Dilip Nath, Aarif Sheikh, and Gulsan Jha being dismissed, leaving the Police Club in a vulnerable position.
In response, Tribhuwan Army Club faced a tough challenge, reaching 39/3 after 10.1 overs when the news was updated.
Early wickets of Trit Raj Das, Santosh Karki and Imran Sheikh have put the Army team on the back foot, forcing them to rely on their middle order to stabilize and rebuild the innings.
Sagar Dhakal was the standout bowler for Nepal Police Club, taking two wickets as the Army's batting faltered early.
