One killed in high-voltage accident during wire theft in Lalitpur
Kathmandu, December 31 — One person died after being electrocuted by a high-voltage current while attempting to steal copper wire with two others in Nakhkudol, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-25, at midnight.
The incident occurred 15 days ago, and the facts came to light after two individuals involved in the theft were arrested.
According to Lalitpur's SSP Shekhar Khanal, the victim, 32-year-old Keshar Bahadur Ghale from Dhading, died on December 15 while attempting to steal the wire.
The other two individuals involved in the theft were 41-year-old Bhuwan Bahadur Karki from Sindhuli’s Sunkoshi Rural Municipality and 17-year-old Kishor Ghale from Khanikhola, Kavre.
While attempting to cut the live wire, Ghale climbed onto a transformer, got electrocuted, and collapsed on the road. After the incident, the two others fled the scene.
They had tried to cut the wire with scissors. Based on CCTV footage, the police arrested the two suspects, SSP Khanal confirmed.
SSP Khanal added, "After the death of one person, the other two fled, and through the investigation, we learned of their involvement."
The two suspects are currently being investigated under theft charges.
