Government launches nationwide cleanliness campaign to combat dengue
Kathmandu, October 25 — The government has launched a cleanliness campaign across all government office premises today to prevent the spread of dengue fever. This decision was made during the cabinet meeting on Thursday evening, instructing that all government office areas be cleaned starting at 10 AM.
Government spokesperson and Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, announced that this decision was based on a proposal from the Ministry of Health and Population. He stated, “To prevent dengue, we are initiating a cleanliness campaign in high-risk areas, such as places where water accumulates, motor garages, and junk storage, following the health ministry's proposal.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has directed its offices to conduct cleanliness drives at 10 AM in line with the cabinet's decision to launch the dengue control campaign.
Health and Population Minister Pradeep Poudel mentioned that due to an increase in dengue outbreaks in several districts, the government has initiated a nationwide “Mosquito Search and Elimination” campaign as of 10 AM today. He urged all stakeholders, including civil servants, security agencies, social activists, and the general public, to actively participate in dengue control efforts.
