Traffic accidents claim at least 10 lives across Nepal

Kathmandu, October 13 —  At least 10 people have died in various traffic accidents across the country.

In Sunsari, a motorcycle with registration number Province 1-02-048 Pa 1776, traveling from Biratnagar to Itahari, lost control and crashed on Saturday afternoon. A 58-year-old woman, Dukmaya Sapkota, from Duhabi Municipality-3, was killed in the accident. She succumbed to her injuries while being treated at Birat Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar.

In Kailali, a pedestrian, approximately 50 years old, was killed when struck by a motorcycle with registration number Su.Pa.Pr. 01-008 Pa 085 on a road in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-13 on Saturday afternoon. The injured pedestrian died while receiving treatment at Nisarga Hospital in Dhangadhi. Three passengers on the motorcycle were also injured and are currently being treated at Maya Metro Hospital in Dhangadhi. The motorcycle driver has been taken into police custody.

In Rupandehi, two motorcycles—one with registration number Lu.31 Pa 1772 and the other Lu.4 Pa 951—collided on Saturday afternoon in Gaidahwa Rural Municipality-3. The driver of Lu.4 Pa 951, 45-year-old Nar Singh Chamar from Lumbini Sanskiritik Municipality-8, was killed in the accident. He died while receiving treatment at Crimson Hospital in Manigram. Two passengers on the other motorcycle are also being treated at the same hospital.

In Jhapa, a motorcycle with registration number Ko.27 Pa 3513 lost control while heading from Kerkha to Damak late Saturday night, resulting in the deaths of 33-year-old Anil Kumar Limbu and 20-year-old Somraj Limbu, both from Shivasatakshi Municipality-8. They died while being treated at Damak Hospital.

In another incident in Jhapa, a cyclist, 50-year-old Bigen Rajbanshi from Mechinagar Municipality-7, was killed after being struck by a motorcycle (Province 1-01-017 Pa 744) on Sunday morning. He died from his injuries while being treated at B & C Hospital in Birtamod. Two passengers on the motorcycle are also receiving treatment there.

In Bara, a collision between a tractor (Na.7 Ta 2984) and a motorcycle (Na.39 Pa 7910) near Auraha Chowk in Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City-4 resulted in the death of 30-year-old Rabindra Chaudhary from Sukumbasi Tol in Jitpur Simra. He died while being treated at LS Neuro Hospital. One other passenger on the motorcycle is also receiving treatment. The tractor driver is currently at large, and police are searching for him.

In Morang, a motorcycle with registration number Pr.1-02-050 Pa 5093 lost control and crashed on Saturday night, killing 16-year-old Ayush Chaudhary from Budiganga Rural Municipality-2. He died while being treated at Birat Teaching Hospital, where two other passengers are also receiving care.

In Banke, a pedestrian, 67-year-old Rudra Bahadur Gharti Magar from Kohalpur Municipality, was killed after being struck by a motorcycle (Bhe.11 Pa 6978) on Saturday night. He died while being treated at Nursing Home Nepalgunj.

In Siraha, a 3-year-old girl named Ganga Kumari Sahi from Bariyarpatti Municipality-3 was killed when struck by a motorcycle, currently unregistered, while she was near Bariyarpatti Chowk on Sunday morning. She succumbed to her injuries while being transported to Biratnagar for further treatment after initial care at the Provincial Hospital in Lahan. Police are currently searching for the motorcycle and its driver.

The police are conducting necessary investigations into these accidents.
