Maha Nawami observed today (pictures)
Kathmandu, October 11 — The grand festival of Maha Nawami, celebrated every year on the ninth day of the waxing moon in the month of Ashwin, is being observed today with special prayers and worship of Goddess Nawadurga.
On Maha Nawami, various rituals including Durga Puja are performed, and the jamara (barley sprouts) placed during Ghatasthapana are taken to different power shrines for offerings.
In Kathmandu, there is a long line of vehicles at the Bhadrakali Temple complex for vehicle worship.
According to tradition, people are taking their two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles to Bhadrakali, one of the religious shrines, for blessings today.
