Over 380,000 leave Kathmandu Valley since October 1
Kathmandu, October 6 — After continuous rainfall on September 27 and 28, many people hoping to return to their ancestral homes for Dashain are stuck in the Kathmandu Valley due to road blockages. Following the rain, from October 1 until today, 380,000 people have left the valley.
In the last week alone, 380,164 people have exited the Kathmandu Valley, as reported by DSP Rabin Karki from the Valley Traffic Police Office. From 6 PM on October 5 to 6 AM on Sunday, a total of 16,465 individuals have departed.
During this period, 7,018 people have entered the valley. Since October 1, a total of 260,629 people have come into the valley. Around 500 vehicles attempting to enter are stranded at the Roshi River in Kavrepalanchok.
At the main exit point of the Kathmandu Valley, Nagdhunga, the traffic of vehicles coming and going has increased. Only vehicles from Jagate in Bhaktapur heading towards Dolalghat and those going to Bhakunde in Kavre have been able to leave.
DSP Karki mentioned that vehicle movement from Jagate has been limited due to the blockade on the BP Highway. Small vehicles have been able to exit from Chitlang and Ramkot.
The road at Pharping in Dakshinkali is blocked, halting vehicle movement in that direction, while the route from Tokha to Nuwakot remains open.
