NC fields Pushpa Bhusal for deputy-speaker's election

Kathmandu - The main opposition Nepali Congress has decided to field Pushpa Bhusal as the party candidate in the election of a deputy-speaker set for tomorrow. The party, however, did not file its candidacy for the Speaker's election. A meeting of the NC office-bearers today agreed to pick up Bhusal, a member in the House of Representatives, as the candidate for tomorrow's election.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat has fixed the election of a Deputy Speaker for 1:00 pm tomorrow. The time for filing the candidacy was from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm today.

CPN (Maoist Center) leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara was elected unopposed as the Speaker on March 10. The Article 91 of the Nepal's constitution states that the elections of a Speaker and Deputy-Speaker shall be held within the 15 days of the commencement of the first meeting of the House of Representatives.
The lower house had held its first meeting on March 5.
