PM Oli to hold presser at 16:00 hours
Kathmandu, October 1 — Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to hold a press conference today (Tuesday) at 4 PM.
Following the significant loss of life and property in the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding districts due to the rains from September 26 to 28, the Prime Minister is expected to announce a relief package during the conference.
According to the Prime Minister's Secretariat, the press conference, to be held at the Prime Minister and Cabinet Office in Singhadurbar, will also disclose details of the damages caused by floods, landslides, and inundation, alongside the relief package announcement.
Immediately after returning from his visit to the U.S. on Monday, Prime Minister Oli convened a Cabinet meeting and decided to provide assistance of NPR 200,000 to the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster.
Additionally, the Cabinet meeting resolved that the Prime Minister and ministers will contribute one month’s salary to the relief fund and declared a three-day national mourning period, during which the national flag will be flown at half-mast.
