Floods and landslides claim 30 lives nationwide, 11 missing

KATHMANDU, September 28 — As a result of the disasters caused by heavy rainfall, nine people have died across various parts of the country outside the Kathmandu Valley, and 11 individuals are reported missing. In the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley, 21 deaths have been recorded.

The Armed Police Force (APF) has deployed 1,947 personnel for disaster response.

According to APF spokesperson Shailendra Thapa, 21 people have died in the valley due to flooding and landslides, while nine have lost their lives outside the valley, with 11 individuals still missing. Physical damage has been reported at 162 locations.

The APF have deployed 23 rafting boats to rescue citizens affected by flooding in various areas of the valley.

Thapa informed that the armed forces have successfully rescued 760 individuals.

The fatalities include nine in Kathmandu, nine in Lalitpur, three each in Kavrepalanchok and Bhaktapur, two each in Ilam and Dhankuta, and one each in Jhapa and Dhading.

In Bhaktapur, 18 disabled children undergoing treatment at the Sushma Koirala Eye Hospital in Lokanthali, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-1, were rescued and relocated to a safe area after water accumulated in the facility.
