PM Oli urges strong disaster response from US

Kathmandu, September 28 — Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli is currently in the United States. After addressing the UN General Assembly, he is participating in various programs and has directed his subordinate agencies to effectively respond to the increasing landslide disasters in different parts of the country.

Through Facebook, he instructed the Chief District Officers of the relevant districts to carry out rescue operations responsibly. He mentioned that he has been informed about the damage to life and property caused by floods and landslides due to continuous heavy rainfall, and that he has spoken with Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak on the matter.

He stated that he has received information through the Home Minister that the disaster response teams of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force have been deployed with full capacity and rescue equipment. "There have been reports of delays in some areas in rescue operations. The Chief District Officers of the relevant districts should also proceed with rescue efforts responsibly," he said on Facebook.

Meteorologists have indicated that there will be rain today as well. He urged, "Let’s support the security personnel deployed by the government for rescue, and stay vigilant in areas not at risk of floods and landslides. Disasters are a common challenge for all; let’s face them together."
