UML whip Baral denounces alleged organized efforts to tarnish her reputation

Kathmandu, September 27 — CPN-UML whip Sunita Baral has expressed her distress over what she claims are organized efforts to tarnish her reputation. In a Facebook post on Friday, she raised concerns about the misuse of technology to spread morphed images and false news, criticizing some media outlets for presenting such content as news.

Baral stated that she has requested relevant authorities to take legal action against these activities and is awaiting legal conclusions. She noted that attempts are being made to question her reputation, which she has earned through years of hard work and struggle, and expressed confidence that these conspiracies will become clear over time.

She said, “Public figures associated with social responsibilities must repeatedly validate themselves in various contexts. Recently, some media have been posting manipulated images and misinformation on social media, acting as agents of disinformation while considering themselves reputable. I express my sorrow over these actions and want my supporters to know that I have requested necessary action against such misleading news and images.”

Baral emphasized her awareness of ongoing attempts to question individuals built through continuous struggle and hard work, asserting that such conspiracies will ultimately be revealed. She firmly believes that struggle is more enduring than conspiracy and expresses gratitude to those who show concern and support while awaiting legal conclusions.
