CPN (Unified Socialist) task force meeting ends without consensus

Kathmandu, September 26 — A meeting of the task force aimed at dividing responsibilities among leaders of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) has ended without reaching an agreement.

The party’s publicity department informed that the task force meeting, which lasted about three hours at the central office in Aloknagar on Thursday, included general discussions about the division of responsibilities but did not result in any decisions.

Former member of the publicity department, Dhanaraj Bastabik, mentioned that the meeting only involved basic discussions. He informed that the leaders have decided to hold continuous meetings. “There is a plan to meet continuously tomorrow and the day after,” Bastabik said.

During Thursday’s meeting, respected leader Jhalanath Khanal suggested that there should be discussions regarding internal dissatisfaction, a review of the general convention, and weaknesses within the party, presenting a written proposal, as reported by one leader.

“Comrade JN has proposed a comprehensive review of the party and emphasized that only by addressing dissatisfaction can we move forward,” the leader stated.

The task force, led by Chairman Madhav Nepal, includes respected leader Jhalanath Khanal, and leaders Beduram Bhusal, Pramesh Hamal, Ghanendra Basnet, Rajendra Pandey, and General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal.

Despite the need to appoint heads and deputy heads of various departments, district and province in-charges, commission heads, and the in-charges of mass organizations after the 10th general convention held in JUly, delays have occurred due to the lack of consensus.
